Sadly, Farmhouse Delivery never rebounded from the frost. The quality of the produce declined around that time and never got better; the unpredictability of the produce never leveled off either. So we've decided to break from Farmhouse and do as much of our shopping at Boggy Creek Farm's market, backfilling with providers at the downtown farmer's market as needed. If it proves to be too difficult we will consider going back to Farmhouse because of the convenience.
This week we're finishing off our last Farmhouse produce (which has already been supplemented by BCF):
- Onion soup with baguette, Dai Due pate, and celery root remoulade
- Stuffed zucchini with chickpea and arugula salad
- Stir fried bok choy and 5-spice pork with jasmine rice
- Kale, beet, and wheatberry salad with feta and Greek dressing
Next week we'll have a whole fridge full of surprises as the farmer is doing the shopping this weekend.

So about those menu plans...
As much as I like my Farmhouse Delivery they've been slacking lately. Typically we receive the list for the the upcoming bushel on Thursdays around Noon, but instead it's been coming Friday or the following Monday. Kinda kills the whole planning aspect and makes it really difficult to order anything additional from them by Noon Friday. To make it more challenging, the bushel doesn't always include what was on the list.
So, I'm trying to leave menu planning to Tuesday after the bushel arrives. Hopefully as the Spring season progresses FD will get back into their routine. But until then we'll be hitting the farmer's markets instead of ordering through FD :(

mmmm...butternut squash + goat cheese pasta, you are delicious. That's what I made for dinner last night- and thoroughly enjoyed for lunch just minutes ago. This week's farm box was pleasantly surprising, and not just because it included crimini mushrooms. After this past weekend's big freeze, I didn't expect to get much of anything but the farmers came through.
Here's the list for this week:

Thank you, SeriousEats, for providing hilarity in addition to excellent recipes. Who wouldn't want to be called to breakfast for 'Hamekins'?
Even if you don't like ham...it's just fun.

Bacon-Bourbon Jam.....yes
Bacon, bourbon, coffee, and maple syrup- all in the same dish, and it's not breakfast?!? YES!
I saw this on seriouseats today and I'm anxious to try it. Although I think I can come up with something more creative to serve it on- or in....maybe crepes?
